I'm assuming that most of you reading this site have seen the show and already understand why I'm asking for their help on my project, but for those of you who are totally lost, here's why:
Currently filming its fifth season, Overhaulin' premiered on TLC in April of 2004. Producer Bud Brutsman (who now has an awesome Year-One built Mustang of his own named "Blackened") brought hot rods to the world of reality television with his two hit shows; Overhaulin' and Rides. While Rides falls more in the documentery mold and follows unique projects by different builders each episode, Overhaulin' revolves around basically the same cast each week.
Overhaulin's premise is that the show's subject or "mark" has his or her car stolen, taken, or lost for a week. They are tricked through a series of phone calls and meetings into thinking that they are resolving the issue, while their vehicle is secretly being transformed into their dream car by the shows "A-Team".
The leader of the A-Team and the centerpiece of the show is legendary car designer and builder Chip Foose. Foose is an amazing designer whose influental work has earned him more awards than I can list here. Some of the highlights include: induction into the hot Rod Hall of Fame in 1997 (being the youngest member ever inducted), winning the coveted "Riddler" award at the Detroit Autorama not once, but twice in 2002 and 2003, and winning the GoodGuys Street Rod of the year award an unprecidented 7 times!
To put it simply, the quality of the work on the show is directly linked to the talent and credability that Foose provides.
The shows co-hosts, Chris Jacobs and AJ (Adrienne Janic) handle most of the "pranking" duties and even help out on the build when things get tight.
If any of this is news to you, check the show out. Not only is it entertaining television, but it's truly amazing to watch a car be transformed from a driveway junker to a show-stopper in one week!
I would be humbled and honored to learn from this crew and have them Overhaul me.
